In 2022, Sahad Sarr has the idea of building an artisanal bread oven, made from mud. Objective: to be able to obtain bread, a staple food in the village located in Serer country, without having to go to Tattaguine, located several kilometers from Kamyaak. This project was also intended to create attractiveness and employability in the village.
To finance this construction, the Jiwnit association began fundraising in 2023. Alyou, a mason accustomed to the village, helped by a counterpart, carried out the construction. But after the first use, the oven cracked due to the heat. Two months later, weakened by use, it completely collapsed in the middle of the night.
Create attractiveness and employability
Despite this disappointment, this experience remains a success: the bread, made by Nango (baker), was a success. Surrounded by two women from the village, he sold bread in the surrounding villages, traveling on a motorbike through the bush.
For a while, four shops spread across five villages were supplied with bread made in Kamyaak.
